Pet Corrector Compressed Air Behavior Interrupting Training Tool
|Availability:||In stock (12)|
The Pet Corrector™ emits a hiss of compressed gas which produces a broad spectrum sound (white noise) varying from a low-frequency rumble to a high-frequency hiss to interrupt a dog’s unwanted behavior.
The overall effect is to grab the attention of a dog. Dogs exhibit a wide range of reactions according to their hearing sensitivity and prior conditioning. Nevertheless, almost all dogs initially react to the Pet Corrector because the sound is genetically programmed to be associated with danger, such as from the hiss of a snake, an angry swan or the buzz of a dangerous insect.
The Pet Corrector interrupts many unwanted dog behaviors but is most often used for barking, chasing, jumping up, and stealing food. Pet Corrector can be used with other animals, including cats and horses. Use it to interrupt and redirect unwanted cat behavior such as counter surfing, inappropriate scratching, and ankle biting.
Directions for Use:
Read all instructions before using the Pet Corrector. Always operate at a distance greater than 1 meter (about 3 feet). Always direct the spray away from your pet’s face (not directly towards it). Never point the Pet Corrector directly towards your face or that of your pet.
Before using Pet Corrector regularly, test the animal’s sensitivity to the device. Do not continue to use the Pet Corrector if your pet has an excessively fearful reaction. While the Pet Corrector should gain your pet's attention, your pet should recover from its use almost immediately. Similarly, it should not produce an aggressive response.
Do not use Pet Corrector on young puppies unless specifically advised by a suitably qualified behavior specialist. Early positive training is the best way to resolve puppy training issues.
Timing is crucial. Pet Corrector should only be used while the misbehavior is occurring. Ensure that you reward immediately when the misbehavior has ceased, ideally while your pet is performing a positive alternative behavior.
Pet Corrector is best used to work on correcting one behavior at a time; e.g. jumping up. Once this has been corrected, if required, you can move on to targeting the next behavioral problem. Only use the Pet Corrector to interrupt specific and targeted misbehaviors: it is not a substitute for poor training!
Only use short bursts of the Pet Corrector. Canister will chill with prolonged use. Dispose of the aerosol can responsibly when it is empty. Do not incinerate, burn or puncture the canister. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 122 degrees F, place in direct sunlight, or expose to flames.
