Steve's Real Food Turducken Nuggets is formulated to meet all the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat and Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages, including growth of large size dogs (70 lbs. or more as an adult).

Feeding Guidelines:

When you feed your pet a raw food diet, they will often require less food than if you were to feed them a kibble/grain-based diet, because the food has so much more nutritional value. There are a few factors that will affect the recommended amount to feed your pet, such as age, activity level, and weight goals. Steve's recommends using the bodyweight percentage rule, which estimates feeding amounts based on the weight of your pet.

For example, if you have an active, 50-pound adult Australian Shepherd, then you would want to feed them 2.5% of their body weight, which is 1.25 lb (daily). 50lbs x 2.5% = 1.25 lbs

Keep in mind that Steve's feeding guidelines should be used as a starting point.  Some large breeds have lower food requirements than average, and some active breeds need more food than their weight would imply. You know your pet better than we do, and you can adjust from this model as you feel best.

Pet's Activity Level or Life Stage Percent of Body Weight to Feed Daily Ounces to Feed Daily for Every 10lbs of Body Weight
Overweight 1.5% 2.4 oz
Average Activity 2.0% 3.2 oz
Above Average Activity 2.5% 4 oz
Weight Gain Goal 3.0% 4.8 oz
Highly Active 3.5% 5.6 oz
Kittens, Puppies, or Pregnant/Lactating 4% or more At least 6.4 oz

Other Information:

Steve's Raw Foods are made according to a Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (B.A.R.F.) Formulation of 80% Meat/Organ/Bone and 20% Produce.

Storage & Handling: Steve’s Real Food frozen varieties, as long as it remains frozen, can remain in the freezer for up to a year. (Please check our best if used by date). Once the raw food has defrosted in the refrigerator it will last for about 3 – 4 days. When given in a bowl at feeding time, it should be fed within four hours.

Feeding your pets raw food is safe if you take common sense precautions. Raw meat does have the potential for bacteria, and if you do not wash your hands after making your pet's dinner, then you are at a risk of getting sick. Treat your pet’s food (regardless of whether it is raw or kibble) as you would treat the raw meat you might make your family.
